James H. Tucker Jr.
James Tucker is a principal with the law firm of Manier & Herod. Mr. Tucker graduated magna cum laude with a B.S. degree from Tennessee State University. He has also earned his Master of Divinity degree and Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from Vanderbilt University.
Tucker served as Law Clerk to the Honorable Irvin H. Kilcrease, Jr., Davidson County Chancery Court, and as Law Clerk to the Honorable John T. Nixon, Chief Judge of the U.S. District Court, Middle District of Tennessee. Mr. Tucker also served as an Assistant Attorney General for the State of Tennessee.
His current practice concentrates on workers’ compensation cases and insurance litigation throughout the State of Tennessee. He is a member of the Napier-Looby, Nashville, Tennessee, American, and National Bar Associations. Mr. Tucker has served as a member of the Harry Phillips American Inn of Court, the Nashville Bar Association’s Minority Opportunities Committees’ Corporate Counsel Project, and the Mid-South Workers’ Compensation Association (Vice President, 2001; President, 2002; Board of Directors, 2003).
Mr. Tucker currently serves as a Vice President of the Tennessee Defense Lawyers Association, and is the Tennessee State Representative for the Defense Research Institute. He has produced a number of seminars on workers’ compensation for the Nashville Bar Association and various clientele.
Mr. Tucker is also regular member on the Board of Directors for 100 Black Men of Middle Tennessee, where he also served as Chairman of the Board from January 2008-2010.
