Jeffrey S. Price and
Rebecca B. Howald recently coordinated the
Fidelity & Surety Law Committee’s 2008 Mid-Winter Meeting, which was
entitled: The Butterfly Effect: How Surety and Fidelity Claims Handlers’
Responses Shape Perceptions. The Mid-Winter Meeting focused upon (1) the AIA
A312 Payment Bond’s 45 day response requirement and (2) the manifest
intent doctrine under Insuring Agreement A of the standard Financial
Institution Bond (Form 24). John Gillum served as
a panel member during the discussion of the AIA A312 Payment Bond, and he
addressed surety claims handling techniques. The manifest intent program
included analysis of two separate mock trials coordinated by Mr. Price and
Ms. Howald, which utilized cutting edge information on decision psychology,
jury research, and juror perception during trial.

Manier & Herod recently published the Third
Edition of “Tennessee Workers’ Compensation, A Practical Guide.” This book
includes up to the minute changes in Tennessee’s Workers’ Compensation laws
including the legislative and administrative changes made in 2004, which
dramatically affect the daily handling of claims and lawsuits. The book also
describes in layman’s terms the underlying principles of workers’
compensation law in Tennessee.

been cited in the Mid South Super Lawyers 2007 and the 2008 Edition of the
Best Lawyers in America in the practice areas of trust and estates.

Michael E. Collins
has been named a Certified Insolvency and Restructuring Advisor (CIRA) by
the Association of Insolvency and Restructuring Advisors (AIRA).
Additionally, Mr. Collins was awarded the Kroll Zolfo Cooper / Randy Waits
CIRA Bronze Medal.
