Sam H. Poteet, Jr.

Mr. Poteet is a principal in Manier & Herod.  Mr. Poteet received his B.S. in Accounting from Tennessee Technological Institute in 1979 and his J.D. from the University of Tennessee College Law in 1982.  Mr. Poteet is also a certified public accountant.

Mr. Poteet was the Program Chairman of the Fidelity Program at the American Bar Association 2002 Mid-Winter Meeting and a speaker on the 2003 ABA Mid-Winter Program.  Mr. Poteet is currently a Vice-Chair of the ABA TIPS Fidelity and Surety Law Committee.  Mr. Poteet is also a frequent author and speaker in the areas of surety and fidelity law and taxation.  Speaker:  2002 NASBP Region 3 Annual Meeting (Contractor Claims and Bankruptcy); International Association of Defense Counsel 2001 Summer Program (The Investigation and Handling of Large Surety Claims); AICPA National Construction Industry Conference (Continuity Planning for a Construction Business); Member, Speaker:  2001 Southern Surety and Fidelity Claims Conference (Fidelity Law Update); 1999 ABA Mid-Winter Meeting (Impairment of Subrogation Rights:  What are the Insured's Duties and Obligations?); Tennessee Society of CPA's (Continuity Planning for a Construction Business); 1998 Southern Surety and Fidelity Claims Conference  (Fidelity Defenses Which are Often Overlooked);  Participant:  1999 IADC Fidelity and Surety Trial Practice Program, “The Trial of a Loan Loss Case - A View from the Jury Box;”  Frequent Speaker: Southern Surety & Fidelity Association Meetings on topics relating to Fidelity and Surety Law.  Co-Presenter: Co-Presenter, 2004 International Credit Insurance and Surety Association, U.S. Insolvency Law and the Intersection with Surety Bonds and Trade Credit Insurance; Co-Presenter, 2004 Construction Owners Association of America, Inc., Owners Leadership Conference, Maximizing the Effectiveness of Your Performance Bond.
