Walton Milam is a civil litigator licensed in North Carolina and Virginia.  He helps businesses and individuals solve complex and challenging commercial, construction, and surety disputes. Through a clerkship for the Honorable Michael F. Urbanski in the Western District of Virginia and ten years of experience as a litigator, Walton understands the decisions and nuance that confront litigants in civil matters. He has procured favorable judgments in North Carolina and Virginia State and Federal Courts and in arbitration.

Walton is a solutions-oriented litigator who tailors litigation strategy to the specific needs, goals, and resources of clients. He strives to find cost-effective solutions to complex problems.  Walton joined Manier & Herod in 2026 and will work with the firm’s Surety Law and Civil Litigation firms. 

Walton has been rated multiple times by Super Lawyers in the Best Lawyers – One to Watch category for Commercial and Business Litigation in 2021-2025.  He graduated cum laude from University of Richmond Law School, where he received a concentration certificate in Intellectual Property and earned the ABA/Bureau of National Affairs, Inc. Award for Excellence as the top Intellectual Property student in his class. He holds a B.A. in economics from Hampden-Sydney College in Farmville, Va. and attended high school at Woodberry Forest in Orange, VA.
